Since retiring in 2011 and with the wonderful help of John Apps, a skilled and experienced furniture maker, restorer and co author of a book on “The Art of Marquetry”, I have been learning how to produce heraldic marquetry. It started as a way of making presents to give to family members but now I’m getting better at it, I am happy to take commissions for making trays and boxes embellished with high quality wood veneer and your own coat of arms and/or crest and motto.
“Standard” sizes are set out against the examples pictured below. Each item takes many hours to make and the materials are costly so these custom made objects have to be fairly pricey - a small card box as in example C would typically cost between £50 and £75 depending on the complexity of the heraldry whilst a complicated box (see example D) or a large tray (examples B & E) would be around £400 to £600. There is no VAT.
All commissions are on a no-obligation basis - if you don’t like the finished product you don’t pay.
